In the beginning we had a dilapidated building in need of a face lift. Now we have an attractive and modern building with a lift and a balcony. What more can we ask for? It wasn’t easy. The only resident that didn’t find it difficult living on a building site was my husband. He found it interesting, being hard of hearing, the noise didn’t worry him, and he didn’t notice the dust’ having bad eye sight. I found the noise and dust a problem’ but it is over and done with, and we are very satisfied with the result. The hardest part was the erection of the pillars and the knocking down of the walls for the lift. It made bearable by the fact that work stopped each day around 15:30. All in all looking back it wasn’t too bad. The workers were pleasant and helpful – carrying the shopping and helping us over the wall. When we saw te plumber arrive, we knew that the water would be cut off, usually for short periods only. If the tractor was working, then there was every possibility that the phone, T.V., cable or electricity would be cut off. But that’s all behind us and we survived!!
